I remember the first ice cream maker I bought was a dinky Panasonic BH-941P. It ran on two lithium batteries and made about 2 cups of ice cream per batch. It was slow and you had to freeze the whole machine in the freezer as it turned the mixture. I did not have much success with it, so when my friend bought me a Cuisinart ice cream maker for my birthday this year, I envision myself making bathtubs of ice cream. That was not the case. I had failures, after failures, after failures. One probable cause (well, maybe the biggest one) was that I was making ice cream in the middle of the night, like at 12am or 1am. I start with the crust and then move straight to the center yolk part. I know, I know. It’s such a waste, but I do save the remnants for my dad who would always tell me I just shouldn’t touch one at all. That was the past!

My very first Daring Bakers Challenge! Although I’m really thrill about this month’s challenge, Chocolate Éclairs, I’m a little disappointed at myself. As you can tell by my disappointing picture taking skills and arrangement of the eclairs, these were not made with 100% love and devotion =( I really wanted to take the time to perfect my eclairs, but this month and especially this week has been crazy. I was up for 20 hours on Friday! I’m hoping I’ll be able to focus more on next month’s challenge.
